  1. a) The percentage of pill count <80% and 80–100% were considered non-adherent and adherent, respectively.
  2. b) Blood level pressure according to JNC 8 guideline: hypertensive patients without comorbid diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease at the age of ≥60 years should achieve <150 mmHg systolic blood pressure and <90 mmHg blood pressure diastolic. Meanwhile, for patients aged <60 years, the target of achieving systolic blood pressure is <140 mmHg and systolic blood pressure is <90 mmHg. For hypertensive patients with comorbid diabetes mellitus and/or chronic kidney disease at all ages, the target is systolic blood pressure <140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure <90 mmHg.
